This is a scene in the crown that I believe show's just how solid and strong the minds are at play within the presented royal family. We have two personalities that refuse to stand down, maintaining same height throughout the whole argument. displaying just how aggressively defensive and callous you must be in order to exist within this arduous family.

In the first shot, Diana is standing tall, this gives the appearance of being prepared for or anticipating something. This is made more clear by her eyes - locked onto the door, waiting for Charles. She is standing straight with her hands together. A common pose in the women of the royal family - she is displaying her rightful title and position as the next Queen mother.
When we see Charles coming into the scene, it is as expected. His head hangs low, he stares at the ground, completely avoiding eye contact with Diana. He creeps through, both hands on the door - I believe as a form of comfort. Even as a swings around to close the door, he does so in a way that completely evades their eyes meeting. As he closes the door, he hold his pose, elongating every movement he

takes. This builds a lot of tension between the characters. We as audience know that their has been turmoil bubbling between these two for years. Have they finally reached their limits? Charles approaches cautiously, holding onto his own hands again as a form of maintaining his calmness. During this shot, we are over the shoulder of Diana, watching him walk into our psychological trap. This is also suggestive to the conversation being very personal.
Charles meets Diana at her height, he does not sit nor lean. Although, he paces back and forth. Suggesting there is something he is holding back. In contrast to Diana who is stood completely still, holding eye contact and giving him a piece of her mind. This scene, for me - demonstrates how Diana really tried in this relationship with both Charles and the royal family. Charles, on the other hand, is someone who has been silenced for most of his life and struggles with speaking out against his mother's wishes. Diana, to him, was part of his duty. However, Diana did not see their relationship in this heart-breaking way.
Charles pacing back and forth only goes on for so long as once Diana asks for an apology, he smiles and finally raises his head. They finally lock eyes as Charles simply will not give her what she is asking for. This is because we as the audience know that Charles is way past caring about their relationship and has fallen very deeply in love with Camilla.
With his hands in his pockets, Charles is slowly creeping out of his sheepish behaviours and opening his body language up. He is solid in his view of Diana, that she is a performer and embarrassing this him and his family. Their argument is a display of how misunderstood they are of each other and what a disastrous pairing they are. Until finally Diana accuses him of being apathetic - to which he bring Camilla into the picture. Throughout the argument they are sarcastically smiling at each other's answer's. Showing just how petty and toxic they are towards each other. The penny drops and what they have been avoiding throughout this whole scene becomes apparent.

They are the closest they have been in this whole scene. And without blinking they are looking at each other dead in the eyes as they fight - no one backs down. I believe here, we see both characters truest emotions towards each other. Charles raises his voice louder - expression the one this Diana has been dreading but also suspecting. Although truly heart breaking for her, she does not show any signs of weakness. She holds her eye contact but is speechless. I think this was a fantastic way to show how much her life with Charles has moulded her into being just as a hardened as the rest of his family. She is speechless as Charles aggressively explains his love for Camilla. I believe this is once again displaying how much she has battled with the harrowing feelings her husband being in love with another woman. He simply has no interest in arguing with her - all his energy is for his other woman.
